Vintage Comme Des Garcons

Blogging about the Comme Des Garcons and H&M Collaboration yesterday made me pull an old book off my shelf called "New Fashion Japan." The book was published in 1984 to showcase the new world of Japanese fashion, Comme Des Garcons included. This is when Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, and Issey Miyake took Paris fashion by storm. It's an interesting look at the designer's purist roots and how they have transpired today.

There are not a lot of Comme Des Garcons books available, so I have treasured and been continually inspired by this one. I will post additional images from this book in later posts. Two other Comme Des Garcons books "Rei Kawakubo & Comme Des Garcons," and "Comme Des Garcons" I had purchased for mere dollars are currently fetching a much higher price due to the lack of books on the subject. I have long ago said I would sell my soul to the devil to acquire "Visionaire No. 20: The Comme Des Garcons Issue" which includes an actual pattern from the revolutionary "Bloom" collection, but it is a pretty rare and pricey find.
